A silver gelatin print of the first The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson recording. The first show aired with Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon, and actress Joan Crawford on October 1, 1962. The image shows the set from a different angle than the audience saw, with the camera, microphone boom, and stage lights in view. Ed sits with legs crossed on the sofa, Johnny Carson seated behind the desk, and special guest Joan Crawford seated between the comedians. The print is fixed to a sturdy charcoal gray display board from the Crescent Cardboard Company.
