A sensational original oil on panel miniature by well known artist David Miretsky (Russia, b. 1939), untitled, a delight example of his subversive oeuvre, depicting a somewhat aloof mother and child, dressed in their finest winter’s clothing, headed away from a village along a scrubby path, a dog and cat trailing. Since Miretsky’s emigration to the United States in 1975, having previously studied at the prestigious Kiev Art Institute, he has been widely exhibited. Signed in the mid right, the piece is housed in a contemporary patterned molding frame with a distressed gilt finish, mounted over ivory colored velveteen.
Condition
Good overall, the backing has some soil, light wear to the frame.
