Hand-Colored French Fashion Print Reproduction

A hand-colored offset lithograph reproduction of an 1877 fashion engraving from the French fashion publication Le Moniteur de la Mode. The print depicts two women in wide Victorian silk dresses standing in an ornately decorated room chatting. The print is signed in-plate by one of the publication’s illustrators, Jules David (1808-1892). The publication’s title and publishing information are printed in-plate in the lower margin. The print is presented behind antique glass in a stunning tiered frame made of mahogany with inlaid stripes of gilt and black and with hand-carved and painted embellishments. A wire is attached to the verso of the piece for hanging.
Condition
-light scratching and areas of loss across the frame. Frame is becoming loose at joints.
