Shur-Stop Fire Extinguisher Grenade
Item Details
An interesting early 20th century firefighting device, the Shur-Stop firefighting grenade is a sealed blown glass bulb filled with a clear liquid (either water or carbon tetrachloride), with a red finish to the exterior. It includes a wall-mounted bracket which ‘works automatically’, i.e., when hung over a fire risk area, intense heat would cause the brackets to separate and drop the grenade onto the fire.
