An Israel Abramofsky (1888-1975) original oil painting featuring two religious figures with gray beards wearing talit shawls. The taller figure is holding a shomar to his mouth, the shorter figure has a book in his hands. The figures are depicted in heavy impasto oil paint on board featuring vibrant primary and secondary colors in a cubist style and presented in a hand made carved rustic wood frame with gilt accents to interior and blue painted accents to border. Oil on panel. Signed ‘I. Abramofsky’ to lower left corner. Israel Abramofsky (1888-1975) was born in Russia and immigrated to Toledo, Ohio in 1909. He studied art in Paris and is known for his landscapes and paintings of Eastern European Jewish life.
