Matthew Daly Rookwood Pottery Vase

An early and very well painted Matthew Daly (Ohio, 1860-1937) decorated Rookwood Pottery vase. This vase features brown and amber toned glaze, a rounded body, a tall stem with a flared rim, and an embossed design of yellow and amber toned tea roses. This vase is shape no. 380A and is signed with his incised cipher ‘M.A.D./L’ on the bottom, as well as a single ‘S’ denoting that the piece was thrown as part of a demonstration for a special guest visiting the pottery.

Condition

A few marks around base of foot, a small scratch on the left side of design, under the stem.
