Robert Furber "12 Months of Flowers" Hand-Colored Lithograph

A hand-colored metal plate lithograph reproduction of an engraving titled April from British horticulturalist Robert Furber’s (1674-1756) highly collectible 1730 book Twelve Months of Flowers, also known as the Wythe House Floral Prints. The original plates were engravings of paintings by Flemish painter Pieter Casteels (1684-1749), and were engraved by Henry Fletcher (1710-1750). The print depicts a large bouquet of flowers, each of which are numbered in small black script. Corresponding numbers at the base of the image identify each flower. The title is printed within a small ornate wreath in the bottom margin as well. The print is presented behind glass in a thin wooden frame with a rustic white finish. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging.
Condition
-paper is slightly yellowed, consistent with age. Print and glass are coming a bit loose from frame. Light surface damage across frame.
