A signed and numbered aquatint etching employing a la poupee coloring techniques by well-listed artist Gary Alan Bukovnik (California/Ohio, born 1947), titled, Fresia in a Red Vase, dated 1981. The image depicts a stunning composition of the fragrant yellow flowers arranged in a fiery reddish-orange ceramic glazed vase. The artist has taken a mundane, every day still life and added remarkable interest to the subject matter by employing well-executed negative space throughout the pictorial space. This stunning print is marked edition 22 of 100 in pencil to the lower left and signed by the artist to the lower right; the title is marked to the lower center. The print is mounted behind white and earth red double mat, under glass, in a beveled wood frame with a metallic copper tone finish. An edition of this print belongs to the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York., and other works of Bukovnik’s belong to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, amongst others.

- paper is discolored with very light foxing throughout. Finish of frame is worn.
