Early 20th Century Belmont Hercules Barber Chair

A Belmont Hercules barber chair made in the early 20th century by the E. Berninghaus Company of Cincinnati. This chrome-framed barber chair has a hard plastic handle and seat apron and is upholstered with orange and red leather. It has an adjustable head-rest, rotates on its pedestal, and an openwork chrome footrest that moves forward slightly when the seated individual pulls on the side handle and leans back in the chair. The headrest is stamped ‘Belmont,’ while the footrest is marked ‘Hercules’ and ‘The Berninghaus Co. / Cincinnati.’ This chair matches that listed in this sale as item 16CIN046-141. Both chairs are being sold by a barber shop in Spring Grove, OH, following the owner’s retirement.
Condition
- There is a fair amount of wear to the chrome footrest.
- The leather has a couple small puncture holes.
