Civil War Union Army Discharge Certificate

Item Details

A Civil War Union Army corporal discharge certificate and paper. The certificate is for Corporal Levi Burcham of Company C of the 43rd Regiment of Infantry Volunteers of Indiana. He was discharged on September 28th of 1862 because ‘Hepatitis disease existing for months’. The second piece of paper is the receipt of $65, given to him by A.M. Freeman, paymaster of U.S. Army on October 3, 1862. The two papers are presented behind a plastic protective sleeve, which has been written on.
