1860 Victorian Lady's Slipper Rocking Chair

Item Details

An 1860 Victorian lady’s slipper style walnut rocking chair. The chair is upholstered front and back in a bargello-style printed jacquard fabric, with rolled arms and a button-tufted balloon back. The crest rail has an intricate carving of grapes with foliage, leading to carved acanthus leaf detail. The front of the armrests are cabriole style, and it has a serpentine apron with deep relief-carved rosette to the center. The carved, cabriole legs sit on the rockers beneath.

Condition

- some slight staining to the seat fabric. The ends of the ams show wear consistent with use.
