An original 1968 watercolor portrait of a young child on thick paper by very well-listed Cincinnati artist Jack Meanwell (1919-2005), signed to the lower left corner in pencil. This painting depicts a young girl with blonde bob standing in front of a dark inky background. She gazes to the side. Some gestural graphite underdrawing can be seen throughout the piece, which covers the top half of the paper, fading to white. The painting is signed and dated ‘1.27.68’ in pencil in the lower right corner. The painting is not framed or matted, awaiting your choice of presentation. Its edges have been dyed a deep yellow. Meanwell was an instructor at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for over twenty-five years and holds a special place among collected Cincinnati painters.
