An unframed, hand-tinted antique map, dating from circa 1850, titled ‘Orbis Veteribus Notis’, Latin for ‘The Known Old World’. It depicts Europe, northern Africa, and western to central Asia, as far as Indochina, with Latin place names. Notably, it depicts the legendary ‘Mountains of the Moon’ in Central Africa. Drawn and engraved by Sidney Hall, published by Longman & Co. of London.

Condition

- minor tears to the edges, paper discoloration consistent with age, vertical crease down the middle.
