Koho Shoda Original Japanese Woodblock "Woman with Lantern"

An original 1928 Japanese woodblock print by listed artist Koho Shoda (1871-1946), titled Woman with Lantern. This print was published by the popular Hasegawa Publisher in Tokyo as part of the well-known collection of 21 prints by various artists titled Night Scenes. This print depicts a lone woman walking with a round red lantern in her hand across a wide flat landscape. The artist’s chop mark is printed to the lower right. This print is matted in gray and presented behind glass in a red frame carved to look like bamboo. A few handwritten notes, some of which are incorrect, can be seen on the verso. A wire is attached to the verso of the piece for hanging.
Condition
-accretion across upper section of glass. Light surface damage across frame.
