An original oil on canvas painting by listed 20th century American artist Marsha Gayle, titled Circus Prance. Gayle masterfully uses unexpected color applied thickly with a palette knife to build a high-contrast image of several white horses with ornate feathers and collars trotting at a circus. A dark background fills the image, making the horses’ delicate white bodies glow beautifully across the image. The painting is signed in purple paint to the lower right, and is again signed and titled in ink on the verso. It is is presented in a simple gilt wooden frame with white canvas trim.
