A pottery figurine in the likeness of a Chorotega Indian by Committee Artisans Santa Elena Monteverde of Costa Rica. This Chorotega indian is kneeling down and decorated in geometric designs in prominent colors of rustic orange, cream, and black. Taped to the underside of the figurine, ‘Pre-Columbian Chorotega Indian quaitil. 5-23-04. CASEM. Committee Artisans Santa Elena Monteverde. San Vicente. Nicoya. Costa Rica.’ The Chorotega Indians were some of the fiercest warriors in northwest Costa Rica and grew corn. The Committee Artisans Santa Elena Monteverde is a non-profit organization in Costa Rica that is comprised of women artisans.
