A Mexican 980 silver miniature cup designed by silversmith Rafael Melendez ( 1911-1980), circa 1930s-1940s. Melendez was one of the first silversmiths to work for William Spratling from 1932-1939, until he opened his own workshop known as Plateria Melendez. He is recognized for working with 980 silver, such as this miniature cup. This is comprised of a cylindrical body with pedestal foot and curved handle. Hallmarked to base with makers mark, Taxco and 980.
