Antique Royal Sphinx P. Regout Maastright Fruit Plates

A selection of antique Royal Sphinx P. Regout & Co., Maastricht. The plates are flow blue on white with an embossed basket weave design on the border, a gold-rimmed edge and inner circle. There are three plates with fruit motifs, to include a pomegranate and leaf, cherries and leaf on stem and strawberries and leaf. Two are designs with birds, one with a bird on a grape vine with hanging grapes and leaf, and the other a bird perched on a narrow leaf. They are marked with an emblem of a sphinx with the words under it,‘P. Regout & Co, MAASTRICHT’, one plate marked also with ‘fruit’ and another with’plata’. This logo is the mark of potter Petrus Regout, who owned and operated his pottery, Royal Sphinx, in Maastricht, Holland from 1836 to 1899. The Royal Sphinx pottery was well regarded for its quality transferware pieces.
