A rare Paul Flato gold tone and rhinestone compact. Circa 1940’s compact with circular rivet and rhinestone design, signed ‘Flato’ to the interior.

Paul Flato was an iconic jewelry designer in New York who was known as the jeweler to the stars. He worked in New York from the early 1940’s to the 1940’s. At the pinnacle of Flato’s career, he was more prestigious than Tiffany & Co. or Harry Winston. Moving into motion pictures at the height of Hollywood’s Golden Era, Flato designed jewelry for many films, including Holiday with Katherine Hepburn.
