1940 Universal Underwood Vintage Typewriter

A 1940 Underwood Universal typewriter and case belonging to Wilfred Smith, former sports editor of the Chicago Tribune. Mr. Smith who served at The Tribune for nearly four decades and was a frontline reporter for such events as the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, early stories on the Chicago Bears and championship boxing matches. This typewriter case bears a bronze plaque stating: ‘To Wilfred Smith All Stars 1940’. Also included is an obituary for Mr. Smith detailing his long career. There are stickers from the 1964 Olympics on the side and bottom, and a brush inside for cleaning the machine. Other than needing a new ribbon, the typewriter appears to be in good working order.

Carry case has some scratches and some of the stickers are wearing off
