John Ruskin Engraving of Sandpiper
Item Details
An original antique hand-colored engraving of a Sandpiper by English artist, critic, and conservationist and philanthropist John Ruskin (1819 – 1900), from the 1872 publication, Ruskin’s Rudimentary Series, 3rd ed. The image is titled, TRINGA, Candida, and depicts the beautiful, long-legged sea bird standing proudly by the sea amidst some tall grass. The image is mounted professionally behind double mat, under glass, in a beveled wood frame with a black painted finish. A Framer’s Vice label is attached to the verso.
Condition
- print is crinkled and lightly warped. Light foxing throughout print. Finish of frame is damaged along edges and on corners.
