An original, antique oil on canvas painting by very well-listed British war painter Ernest Crofts (1847-1911). The image depicts two British soldiers leaning over a dog that seems to have been injured in battle. Several soldiers carrying large bayonets are lined in formation among smokey clouds in the background. The painting is signed in pencil on the verso of the stretcher bars. -very light cracking across painting’s surface. Light accretion and scratching across frame.
