1863 "Leslie's Illustrated History" Civil War Wood Engraving
Item Details
An original 1863 wood engraving printed as an illustration for an issue of Leslie’s Illustrated History, also known as Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper, an American illustrated literary and news magazine. This image was created by American illustrator J.H. Schell and ran on page 289 of the magazine. The image depicts a group of Union soldiers returning with supplies and provisions they have pillaged. A description of the scene is printed in the lower margin. The print is matted in white and presented behind glass in a thin black and gilt frame. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging.
Condition
-matting has some marking across. Remnants of a sticker sit in lower left corner of print. Marking across frame.
