A vintage framed watercolor landscape painting by artist Fletcher Carpenter (1879-1954). The painting illustrates a group of sailboats on the water on a calm day with mountains and an overcast sky in the horizon. The painting is signed in the lower proper left corner ‘Fletcher Carpenter. The painting is framed in a simple wood frame under glass with a single mauve mat. The painting has a handwritten inscription on the back of the dust cover reading ’watercolor by Fletcher Carpenter. Aunt Barbara’s husband was an art teacher at University of Rochester, NY.’ The artist was an art teacher at a high school in Rochester NY. A graduate of Massachusetts School of Art, Carpenter was known for his landscape painting.
Condition
There is visible separation of the joints on the wood frame. There is wear associated with age.
