After Auguste Rodin, "Etude D'un Corps Tombant", Bronze

Superb posthumous cast of "Maquette" intended for Rodin’s massive "Gates of Hell". "Etude D’un Corp Tombant" (translated: "Study of a Body Falling") was purportedly left by Rodin in the studio of his mistress Camille Claudel and never used in the actual "Gates". This cast mounted on a custom made marble base is stamped Excalibur Bronze Foundry, New York is edition 12 of 48.
Rodin, the ultimate realist sculptor of the 20th century. His "Gates of Hell" are considered to be his masterpiece and only a few versions of the complete gates exist in the real world.
