George W. Lundeen Bronze Sculpture "Two Springers"

Item Details

A bronze sculpture by listed American sculptor George W. Lundeen (born 1948). The piece is titled Two Springers, a charming play on words that represents the Springer Spaniel depicted nose-to-nose with the ‘springing’ frog. The dog is rendered with textured ‘fur’ and two-tone coat and the frog with a verdigris patina. The piece is mounted to a wooden base with attached brass label that reads ’ ‘Two Springers’ / George W. Lundeen’. Lundeen was born in Nebraska, attended Hastings College, received a Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Illinois where he studied under realist sculptor Frank Gallo and finished his academia with a year in Italy. After teaching for a bit in Nebraska, Lundeen made the decision to dedicate his career to creating, moving to Loveland, CO where he still resides and becoming a world renowned sculptor for his commemorative busts and life-size sculptors. This piece is an example of a smaller sculpture of which a life-size piece exists. His commissioned works can be seen throughout the country. The artist has achieved the status of full Academician of the National Academy of Design in New York, the highest professional recognition bestowed on visual arts in America.
