1920s Mikiphone Pocket Phonograph
Item Details
A fascinating piece of music history, the Mikiphone pocket phonograph was produced from 1924-1927 in Switzerland, a portable music player over fifty years older than the Walkman. All of the parts fit into a circular hinged metal case, requiring some assembly before use. It is powered by a hand-cranked winding key, and plays sound through a resonator style speaker at the end of the arm. It plays 10’ records, and was in working condition at the time of cataloging. A box of needles is included. A record is not included, and appears in the linked video only for display and demonstration purposes.
Condition
- wear to the felt of the plate that the record sits on, crack to the plastic of one half of the resonator, some paper sticker remnants on the resonator.
Dimensions
