Menno van Meeteren Brouwer Original Colored Pencil Portrait
Item Details
An original 1970 colored pencil portrait by well-listed Dutch painter and illustrator Menno van Meeteren Brouwer (1882-1974). The portrait depicts Henry Dunant (1828-1910), the founder of the Red Cross and first recipient of Nobel Peace Prize, late in his life. The portrait is drawn in sketchy lines created with gray and brown colored pencils. It is titled in the lower left, and signed and dated in the lower right. Another pencil note was originally written in the lower margin but has since been erased. The drawing is matted in white with gilt trim, and is presented behind glass in a gilt frame. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging, along with a card from ACQUISITIONS giving information about the drawing. More information about the artist can be found under Related Links.
