C.H. Dunning Original 1927 Oil on Canvas "Trout Stream"

An original 1927 oil on canvas landscape painting by 20th century Minnesotan painter Clarence H. (C.H.) Dunning, titled Trout Stream. This beautiful painting depicts a rippling stream off of Lake Superior in northern Minnesota. It is painted in an Impressionistic style with soft warm tones, giving the scene a cozy fall ambiance. A tall barren tree rises over the stream, and a shadowy blue mountain fills the background of the image. The painting is signed and dated in paint in the lower right, and also signed in pencil in the lower left. The words ‘Trout Stream, Lake Superior Country, Minnesota, Painted Oct. 1927 by C.H. Dunning’ are written on the verso of the piece. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging.

Condition

-light accretion across painting’s surface. One more obvious stripe of accretion sits along the right margin. Paint is worn away slightly in upper right corner. Light scratches across frame.
