Late 19th Century Slant Top Schoolmaster's Desk

An antique primitive Federal style slant top schoolmaster’s desk circa the late nineteenth century. The desk features a removable slant top storage box above a table with a single drawer with a wooden pull. The box is hinged at the top and opens to reveal a divided storage compartment. The storage box has a keyhole and metal hinges. The inner compartment is painted white, the body of the desk is painted red, and the slanted top has been painted and stripped. The desk is constructed with handmade dovetail joints.

Condition

The desk has been painted and the top has been stripped. There is wear and scratching associated with age and use.
