Vintage Chalkware Bust by Marwal

Item Details

A vintage 1960s chalkware bust of a Japanese woman with a fan, created by the artist Blossom Brower. Marwal collectible busts were produced in Miami, Florida between 1940 and the mid 1960s, and became highly desirable for their beauty, detailed paint work and scale. This beautiful Geisha has her hair up in traditional style and secured with a flower blossom clip. She holds a fan and looks demurely down. The bust is meticulously hand-painted and is marked ‘1965 Marwal Ind. Inc. by Brower’ to the lower back.

Condition

There are a few small flakes of paint missing from her hair.
