1979 Reds Champion Bat in Plastic with Box

A 1979 Cincinnati Reds National League West Champion bat, still in it’s original packaging with the Christmas card from Dick Wagner, comprises this lot. The bat is sealed in it’s original plastic bag and inside is a Christmas card signed by the General Manager Richard (Dick) Wagner; the bat’s shipping box from the Reds is also present. The Reds won the West Division in 1979 and the custom was that the season ticket holders received a commemorative bat (the same thing was done in 1975 and 1976 only those are World Series bats). Season ticket holders received red colored bats, players/executives received black bat. The bat has facsimile autographs shaded in gold and it was made by the Hillerich & Bradsby bat company of Louisville, Kentucky.
