1857 Hand-Colored Stone Lithograph of Hudson River
A stunning antique 1857 hand-colored stone lithograph by 19th century American printer Frederick Blumner, titled View on the Hudson at West Point. This unusually large and bold lithograph depict the Hudson River, the United States Military Academy and the ‘Queen of the Hudson,’ the steamship Mary Powell. Two figures on horses sit in the foreground, surveying the scene. The print’s coloring has been preserved with remarkable vibrancy. The artist’s name is printed in-plate in the lower right, and the words ‘Published by Lyon & Co, 35 Bowery N.Y.’ are printed in the lower margin alongside the title. The print is presented behind a beautiful large piece of antique glass in a mahogany-toned frame with gilt trim. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging.
