Commemorative Stamps for Knoxville World's Fair by Charley Harper

A group of commemorative U.S. postal stamps designed for the Knoxville World’s Fair by well-known Cincinnati based wildlife artist Charley Harper (1922-2007). Offered are four stamp designs adhered to a variety of commemorative envelopes, including an ‘Artmaster First Day Cover’ envelope with engraved art and five envelopes with fabric printed appliques. Also included are gold-tone stamp replicas preserved in covers with the government logo to surrounding border and the coordinating U.S. Postal Service pamphlet. The subject of the stamps was based off the theme of the conference, ‘Energy Turns The World.’ Stamps are titled: solar energy, synthetic fuels, breeder reactor, and fossil fuels. This symposium was the largest exposition held in the United States in 40 years prior.
Condition
Light wear and marks consistent with age and use. A few of the envelopes exhibit discoloration.
