Nanking Pearlware Cider Pitcher

Item Details

A Nanking export pearlware cider pitcher. The pitcher has a barrel shape with an applied spout and sieve holes to the interior of the spout. The jug has a beautiful reeded and plaited handle with extremely detailed and delicate foliate attachments to the sides. The overall pattern is a blue willow-like transferware and blue underglaze of pagodas, landscapes and lush trees. The pitcher is unmarked. Please note condition details.

Condition

- to fair. In overall good condition given the age, but it has a broken and repaired spout; the spout has been repaired with staples (an older method of repairing porcelain.)
