Ninjiro Inagaki "Miyako Odori" Woodblock Hand Print
Item Details
An original woodblock hand print by Japanese artist Professor Ninjiro Inagaki (1902-1963), titled Miyako Odori. The print was created at a Mikumo Woodblock Hand Printing, a ‘house of Oriental arts’ in Japan that creates brightly colored hand-printed woodblocks on homemade paper and sells them as cards and large prints. This print depicts dancers at Mikayo Odori — a traditional spring dance ceremony held each year in the historic district of Kyoto since 1872. The image depicts the dancers in a lane, wearing brightly colored kimonos and holding gold fans. The print is matted in white, and is presented behind glass in a beveled gilt frame. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging. More information about Mikumo can be found at the link below.
