A Doepke Yardbird Train and Tracks. Every child’s dream in the late 1950’s was to have their very own train, and Doepke made it happen. Started in Oakley, OH, Doepke Toys focused on making realistic vehicular toys, like this rideable train. This Yardbird model was released in 1955, and featured a train powered by a chain rotated with the handles of the car. Complete with sixteen lengths of track (eight straight and eight curved sections), this hefty piece of nostalgia always has, and always will, provide hours of entertainment. Also included are posts to link tracks together.
Condition
All tracks appear to be in good vintage condition. All wooden ties are intact, and there is minimal rusting on tracks. One handle of car is original, but the other has been replaced. Car would benefit from repainting, and chain is loose from gear.
