A carved late nineteenth century alabaster bust titled ‘Poesie’ by Itallian artist Professor Antonio Garella (1864 – 1919). Antonio Garella was a nineteenth century sculptor who lived and worked in Bologna France and in Florence, Italy. He is best known for his sculpted monument to the renowned Prato merchant Francesco Datini (1896) in Pretorio Palace in Toscana Italy. This bust is embellished with a metal crown of olive branches on the girls head and sits on a siena marble base with brass plaque engraved ‘POESIE’. Signed to the verso on the shoulder.

some discoloration with age.
