C.H. Shearer Oil on Canvas Landscape Painting

An 1875 oil on canvas landscape signed by Christopher Shearer (1846 – 1926). This is a late twentieth century landscape depicting a path through rolling hills. Shearer was born in Pennsylvania and studied in Dusseldorf and Munich. In 1878, on a return trip to Germany, he was awarded a Gold Medal by the Dusseldorf School of Art. This painting is presented in an ornate gold tone frame with clusters of fruit in the corners in relief. This painting was cleaned by Wiebold Art Conservation Lab in 1989.
