A Tang Dynasty Kai Yuan coin used in circulation in China during c. 618-907 A.D. measuring 27mm x 17mm x 1mm and weighing 3g. The obverse side shows the Emperor’s title with the reverse side showing the fingernail of the Empress, leading this coin to be referred to as Empress ‘Fingernail’ Cash. This coin is comprised of 80.54% copper, 7.17% lead, and 11.07% selenium.
