Original Saddlebred Horse Illustration in Antique Oval Frame
A late 19th century original varnished conté crayon and oil pastel drawing on paper. The drawings is done on off-white paper, and depicts a majestic saddlebred black horse with a shining coat. The horse stands alert, gazing attentively ahead. A wide open field dotted with trees lies behind the noble animal. Most of the image is drawn with black conté crayon, and the white accented areas appear to be drawn with white oil pastel. The entire image has been covered in a thin, glossy varnish. The drawing is unsigned, and is presented in a convex glass oval frame with embellishments at each tip. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging.
