Antique Biblical Silk Needlework

An antique biblical silk needlework, in the style of the Philadelphia school silk-on-silk pieces from the early 19th century. The handmade piece is executed with silk, wool and chenille threads on a silk ground. The imagery depicts a lady seated in the woods with a donkey and cow by her side in bright, vivid colors. The work is presented under glass in an oval dark stained wooden frame with a gold-tone border.

Condition

Some fading to the face, small tear in the silk ground near her hand.
