A Chokwe mask from the Congo in Central Africa. It features a stylized face with large closed eyes, a thin nose and sharp teeth. The forehead carries a cross-like design comprised of interconnected triangles. The hair is formed from woven grass and is decorated with beads and cowrie shells. A neck veil is formed with similar material.
Some wear to the shellac on the face. Some wear to the neck veil where it ties onto the mask.
