Item Details

An Antique Elk’s Lodge Wooden Voting Box. This is an antique Elk’s Lodge voting box that includes a small box of white marbles. The box is a dark stain. It opens on both sides and has a small hole with a metal ring with a spring door. The bottom of the box has a rounded, smooth handle. The small box of New Hyatt "Triangle Cue Ball" white marbles is manufactured by the Albany Billiard Ball Co. from Albany, New York. Voting boxes have been used in the Elk’s Lodge for a very long time to vote in new members. Black balls and white balls were used to count how many members wanted to vote a new person into the Lodge. A black ball was a "no" vote and a white ball was a "yes" vote.
