WWI and WWII Book Lot

A lot of six books, three hardcover and three softcover, about American units in the First and Second World Wars, plus military ephemera. These include the booklet Troopships (1918), published by the YMCA as a guide for American soldiers about to cross the Atlantic; History and Rhymes of the Lost Battalion (1922), a book of poetry about a group of nine companies of the 77th Division which were cut off by the enemy; The Kit Book for Soldiers, Sailors and Marines(1942) with cartoons and humorous stories; 37th Division: Summary of Operations in the World War (1944, but about a WWI unit), with maps; A Little Journey to the Home of the Engineering, Division Army Air Service (undated, WWI era or shortly after); and finally _Cease Firing: A History of Battery ‘D’, 134th Field Artillery (1921). These last two volumes both deal with units based out of Dayton, Ohio.

Also included in this lot is a bag of WWI and WWII military paper ephemera, including two WWII ration books, a typed WWI era military variant on a common prayer, a 1918 letter from General Pershing to the troops of the American Expeditionary Force, a bunk assignment slip from a WWI troop ship, and the poems ‘In Flanders’ Field’ with ’America’s Answer’.
