Antique Chinese Apothecary Chest

Item Details

An antique Chinese apothecary chest, circa late 19th century. These chests were used to store herbs and other remedies for the ailing. This chest has 36 small drawers with red fronts and Chinese lettering in gold , and two larger drawers at the bottom. The drawers have round brass swing pulls with floral bases, and the drawers are rabbet joint construction with nails. The chest and the drawers are constructed of elm. The chest has square legs with a scrolled skirt on the front and sides.
