Original Steven Chandler Red Mud Folk Painting

An original 2015 red mud paint, artist paint and graphite painting on the back of a Jimmy Dean biscuit box, titled ‘Old Man With A Catfish’ by very well-listed contemporary Georgian folk artist, Steven Chandler (1968-). The image depicts a man wearing a wide-brimmed hat as he smokes a small pipe. In his hands, he holds a large spotted catfish. This piece is a fantastic example of the primitive red mud folk paintings Chandler is best known for. The painting is signed and numbered ‘15’ in the upper left corner. This painting is also signed to the back. It is set on a black background with textured brown matting, and is presented behind glass in a rustic-style wooden frame that beautifully compliments the piece. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging, along with a small biography about the artist. The artist’s blog can be found at the link below.
