A vintage Kentucky history and Civil War magazine and book collection. The 42 Civil War magazines are published by ‘Civil War Times Illustrated’ from the 1960’s and 1970’s. The magazine was first published in 1962 and covers battlefield tactics, strategies, and social and economic issues of the era as well as the aftermath of the war. There are three spiral bound issues of ‘The Parker Gun.’ They have been copied from a book and are spiral bound. The Parker Gun was a shot gun manufactured in the United States in the mid 19th century. The two books are entitled The Coal Industry In Kentucky and Conservation Of Natural Gas In Kentucky both authored by Dr. Willard Rouse Jillson, Kentucky State Geologist. Both are first editions published in Louisville, Kentucky by John P. Morton & Company. Both are illustrated. The Letcher County Cemeteries Volume 7 is spiral bound and printed by the Letcher County Historical and Genealogical Society in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The book Madam Belle Brezing is a biography by author Buddy Thompson was published by Buggy Whip Press in 1983. Brezing was a nationally known madame who lived in Lexington, Kentucky. The ‘Kentucky Ancestors’ journals were published by the Kentucky Historical Society in the 1970’s. There are 25 copies and subjects include Daniel Boone’s log cabin, covered bridges, genealogy, and Kentucky families. There is one Bulletin issue is a smaller magazine also published by Kentucky Historical Society published in the 1970’s. There is also a vintage pamphlet entitled ‘Your Kentucky Driving Privilege’ printed by the Division of Driver Licensing.
