An antique salt-glazed stoneware crock, marked with a blue 15 indicating that the crock can hold 15 gallons. Crocks were useful kitchen staples throughout the United States. They are prized for their simple beauty which originates in the manufacturing process using a salt glazing process to create a glass-like finish on the crocks when they were fired
