The image depicts eleven-year-old Sarah Barrett Moulton (affectionately called ‘Pinkie’ by her family), the daughter of Portugese merchants in Jamaica. She wears a long white dress with a pink silk hat and matching belt. She stands at the edge of a dark body of water where a storm seems to be building as a wind softly blows her delicate dress and accessories.
